Pre-Tribulation Rapture

2 Thessalonians 2:2

The Thessalonians were being told that the day of the Lord had started in a letter forged as being by Paul.  Paul had taught many things to the Thessalonian church within the 1st three weeks of its inception, including the doctrine of the rapture.  The Thessalonians were upset that the day of the Lord was at hand and they missed the rapture.  The Thessalonians would have no reason to be upset if they had any other rapture view but pre-trib.  Paul was pre-trib.

Dispensational Model of the Harpazo

Genesis 19:9-11

  • Lot was righteous – 2 Peter 2:4-9
  • Righteousness stems from God
    • a biblical axiom
  • Lot is used as a picture of those who are in the Lord’s church
    • deemed righteous by God because of the work of Christ
  • Lot was pulled through the door and then the blindness’ came (strong delusions – 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12), just as we will be pulled through the door before 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12.  The door is Jesus – John 10:9-10
  • God was with the two angels – Genesis 19:18

Dispensational Model of the Harpazo

Genesis 38:13-26

Judah = the Jewish people

Tamar = the gentile led church

signet = identity

bracelets = tribe

staff = authority

  • Judah possessed the signet, bracelets, and staff to pledge, which represents the person and authority of Christ
  • Judah bargained away the signet, bracelets, and staff for the price of a harlot, just as the Jews sold off Christ at His 1st coming in their spiritual harlotry
  • The signet, bracelets, and staff were given as a guarantee of payment, just as the Holy Spirit is given as a guarantee of our eternal life
  • The signet, bracelets, and staff being returned are a symbol of Christ’s authority transfer back to the Jews, representing their opportunity during The Great Tribulation
  • Judah knew Tamar again no more, just as Christ’s dealing with Israel and the Church do not overlap
